Who we are: our story

The story of Expert Bike: why this cycling magazine was born, who writes it and what guides its articles.

A magazine born from a simple question

Which bike should you choose, and in which size, when you cannot try it before buying? The question keeps coming up, when moving to road cycling, getting into gravel or replacing an old mountain bike. The available answers often boil down to hard-to-read spec sheets or conflicting reviews.

Expert Bike was born in 2026 to meet that need: a magazine that explains the differences between bikes, compares brands on concrete criteria and suggests routes to ride the very next weekend.

Who are we?

Expert Bike is written by two cycling enthusiasts, each with their own speciality:

  • Antoine Lacoste, a former bike shop mechanic, covers equipment: road bikes, gravel, mountain bikes and e-MTBs, sizing, buying online and brand comparisons.
  • Camille Rey, a former elite amateur racer, covers racing, training, sportives, routes and climbs in France, as well as women’s cycling.

Their full profiles are on the Our authors page.

What guides our articles

  1. Usefulness first: every article must help readers decide, with clear figures, criteria and examples.
  2. Transparency: update dates are displayed, and data comes from identifiable sources.
  3. Every budget: a good bike is not necessarily the most expensive one, and every guide gives benchmarks for several price levels.
